Abstract:

The collection contains promotional materials about the Jewish Consumptives' Relief Society's sanatorium in Spivak, Colordado: Thirty Years of Saving Lives: The Sanatorium of the Jewish Consumptives' Relief Society, 'Denver Sanatorium' 1904-1934; a pamphlet, from 1947, entitled Keep them Living! and a series of published prints about the sanatorium entitled The J.C.R.S in Pictures. The collection also includes materials relating to Jewish cemeteries, particularly correspondence between Bob Levinson, Gary Haas (December 29, 1972) and Rabbi Louis Neimand (December 29, 1972) about the gravestones of Mildred Haida and her husband, Jehu Haida, and the Bidwell Bar cemetery, whose graves and tombstones were removed prior to the cemetery's land being flooded by the Oroville Dam. The collection also includes a pamphlet from the Judah L. Magnes Museum's Commission for the Preservation of Pioneer Jewish Cemeteries and Landmarks that contains the names of its officers and trustees.
